Keeping up with Keurig

I’ve been coveting a Keurig Coffee Maker for about a year now and luckily I received one as a Christmas gift.

KeurGift

The Keurig system comes with a 20 K-Cup variety pack of Coffee and Teas, and of course I’ve already drank them all  except the Hot Chocolate.  Winter is finally here and what better time to whip up a Hot Chocolate Cocktail.

HCKConFor this recipe I used:

1 oz. Pinnacle Marshmallow Vodka

Add it to the Hot Chocolate

Top with CREAM Vanilla (Alcohol Infused) Whipped Cream

HCK2

I was introduced to CREAM Alcohol Whipped Cream some time ago and I’ve loved it ever since.  It’s very hard to find because every liquor store doesn’t stock it.  They come in a variety of flavors such as, chocolate, caramel, raspberry, cherry, vanilla, and orange.  It’s also very versatile because I’ve used it in coffee, with Bailey’s Liqueur, and on cakes and pastries.

HCK3

My photo above is a lame display of the whipped cream because the can wasn’t at room temperature. The back of the can suggest “Serve at Room Temperature.  If Cream becomes runny due to hot or cold temperatures, let can return to room temperature.”  When I purchased the can it was on display at the front entrance of the liquor store and I assume the cold draft caused it to be a little runny, but let me tell you… it’s still delicious!!

What is your favorite Boozy Hot Chocolate Drink?

Peach Orgy (OR-G)

I’m always excited to visit different home bars because different friends like to purchase different liquor. On a recent visit to a friend’s home, I created a drink I like to call “Peach Orgy”. This star of this cocktail OR-G Liqueur – a French Vodka made with Papaya, Mango, and Lime.

Peach OR-G

What you need:

3 oz Vodka

1 1/2 oz OR-G

1 oz Peach Schnapps

1 Cup Orange Juice

Pour all ingredients into a standard shaker

Add Ice

Shake 5-10 times

Pour into glass

ENJOY!

Bottle after Bottle

Happy New Year Everyone!!! I hope you had a safe and fulfilling holiday season, I know I did. Christmas was great and New Years Eve was even better.  On NYE, some friends and I celebrated at Mosaic Nightclub (4 Market Place) in Baltimore.  This was our second year celebrating at Mosaic because we had so much fun last year we decided to do it again.

Mosaic7

We also like the  VIP bottle service that Mosaic offers on NYE – unlimited bottles from 9:00 pm until midnight.  I was excited to see our cocktail waitresses were dressed in “Queen of Hearts”  costumes and  I have to admit I was a little jealous because I love to wear theme-inspired costumes. Last year our spirit of choice was Belvedere and this year  Ciroc.

Mosaic 7-1

Ciroc is always a good choice liquor if you’re going to drink all night because I find  it gives you little or no hangover symptoms the next morning.  We had a group of about 15 people and I’m almost certain we went through 5-7 bottles of Ciroc…at some point I lost count.

Normally when you opt for a table and bottle service it includes one liquor with two or three mixers. Vodka and Tonic is good, Vodka and Cranberry is good, but I personally like to shake things up a bit.  Luckily we had Ciroc Peach & Ciroc Original and I was able to experiment.   I thought I’d share a few recipes with you…

1.  Ciroc Original, Tonic, Redbull, Squeeze of Lime

2.  Peach Ciroc, Orange Juice, Cranberry Juice, Squeeze of Lemon

3.  Ciroc Berry, Tonic, Squeeze of Lemon and Lime

I hope these easy mixes come in handy for your 2013 party enjoyment!  Be Safe and Be Blessed 🙂

Brio Tuscan Grille

I recently visited Brio Tuscan Grille (100 East Pratt St., across from the Gallery Shopping Center) in the lovely Baltimore Inner Harbor. I was more than excited to try Happy Hour at Brio as I was already familiar with the $3.95 Happy Hour menu because I’d previously visited the restaurant.  And Yes you read that correctly, the appetizer menu during Happy Hour is $3.95!!!

photo 2

This little piggy in me likes to order three appetizers whenever I visit Brio because truth be told, they are $3.95 and whatever I don’t eat and I can take home and eat the next day 🙂 My tasty top contenders of the night were the Ravioli Caprese, Crispy Shrimp Piccante, and the Brio Burger.

The Ravioli Caprese is topped with a pesto cilantro drizzle, fresh tomatoes, romano and mozzarella cheeses.  I’m a cheese girl, so if you give me food with any cheese (anything but American cheese)  I get excited.  Romano cheese is a sharp cheese of Italian origin and mixed with the mozzarella it made a winning combination. The Caprese is served with four large ravioli rounds and it’s enough to share with another person.  The Shrimp Piccante is a crispy breaded shrimp served with a spicy aioli sauce.

The Brio Burger was delicious!  Served with homemade chips, provolone cheese, and topped with a flavorful tomato garnish. I suggest  you get the burger with nothing added, specifically how it’s advertised.  Be forewarned…my friend attempted to add onions to her burger and was told onions are an additional $4.00!  Ummmm the onions cost more than the actual burger!  She’ll pass..thank you.

The Happy Hour drink menu is also very impressive offering 11 cocktails at $5.00 each.  I always say variety is the spice of life and the cocktail menu offers (2) Sangria’s (white and red), (3) Mojitos and (2) Cosmos.  All the drinks on the Brio menu are what we like to call “Craft Cocktails” in the bartending world.  Craft Cocktails include fresh ingredients like fruit, mint, and specially made juices.  These drinks are muddled, strained, shaken, and stirred in numerous ways… basically your cocktail is made with tender loving care.   I must say our cocktails were delicious!

I looked on like a proud mama as two of my friends asked to have the strongest drink on the menu and eventually everyone at my table ordered a Sangria Rosa made with red wine, fresh pineapple and strawberries.  I also ordered the mojito and it was very delicious, dangerous in bar standards because it taste like kool-aid and those are the drinks that creep up on you.

Of course I had dessert, mainly because it was served in the cutest little oversized shot glass and they had cheesecake!! Brio offeres a dessert sampling of all your favorites like cheesecake, brownies, creme brulee and they are priced at $2.99 each.

Apple Cidecar

I know I know, the correct term is “Sidecar” not “Cidecar” but I created this cocktail with Apple Cider… hence the name “Apple Cidecar”

On a recent visit to my neighborhood liquor store, I was intrigued by the variety of  “featured” liquor they had on display at the front counter. I’ve been meaning to replenish my bar area at home, so I challenged myself to visit every week and purchase whatever liquor was “featured”  at the front register. No matter what it is, I’m going to buy it and create a specialty drink recipe for Arli’s Appetite.   This week one of the “featured”  items was Paul Masson “Grande Amber” Brandy.    I love a classic Sidecar, but I decided to make this one with an apple twist.
