COCKTAILS

Saltworks Vodka

Not sure why but sometimes I crave dirty martini’s.  I love the salty taste and the classy glass with three olives, it’s even better if the olives are blue cheese stuffed.  I was reminded of my love for Dirty Martinis when Saltworks Vodka recently reached out to me and offered to send a sample of their product.  Immediately I thought about creating a dirty martini but wanted to taste the product first before making that decision. They make a Himalayan Pink Salt Vodka and a Smoked Sea Salt Vodka, for this cocktail, I decided to use the latter.  The Smoked Sea Salt as expected has a bold smoky flavor like the vodka was smoked and then put in the bottle.  You can definitely taste the salt but it’s not overpowering and it blends well with the savory taste of the smoke.  I thought a bit about what to make with this vodka and I decided on a salty version of a Chocolate Martini because I do love salted chocolate.

Sweet and Salty is the perfect way to describe my SSS Chocolate Martini.  The rich chocolate mixed with the blend of sea salt gives this classics cocktail a surprising kick.

Ingredients:

2 oz Smoked Sea Salt Vodka

1 oz Chocolate Liqueur

.5 oz Crème de Cocoa

Garnished with sea salt dark granola

Instructions:

Add ingredients in shaker, add ice, shake and pour into a martini glass.

Quick, easy and delicious!  What would you make with Saltworks Vodka?  Let me know in the comments.

Peach Orgy (OR-G)

I’m always excited to visit different home bars because different friends like to purchase different liquor. On a recent visit to a friend’s home, I created a drink I like to call “Peach Orgy”. This star of this cocktail OR-G Liqueur – a French Vodka made with Papaya, Mango, and Lime.

Peach OR-G

What you need:

3 oz Vodka

1 1/2 oz OR-G

1 oz Peach Schnapps

1 Cup Orange Juice

Pour all ingredients into a standard shaker

Add Ice

Shake 5-10 times

Pour into glass

ENJOY!

Apple Cidecar

I know I know, the correct term is “Sidecar” not “Cidecar” but I created this cocktail with Apple Cider… hence the name “Apple Cidecar”

On a recent visit to my neighborhood liquor store, I was intrigued by the variety of  “featured” liquor they had on display at the front counter. I’ve been meaning to replenish my bar area at home, so I challenged myself to visit every week and purchase whatever liquor was “featured”  at the front register. No matter what it is, I’m going to buy it and create a specialty drink recipe for Arli’s Appetite.   This week one of the “featured”  items was Paul Masson “Grande Amber” Brandy.    I love a classic Sidecar, but I decided to make this one with an apple twist.
